AI Engineer - Remote - Contract

We are seeking an AI Engineer to build and deploy solutions using Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic AI, and machine learning. This role will develop end-to-end AI solutions from design and data preparation through deployment, evaluation, and monitoring.

Location: Remote with quarterly travel to Washington, DC
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
Clearance: Must be eligible for Public Trust
Opportunity: Contract with potential FTE conversion

Responsibilities

• Build agentic AI systems using tool/function calling, task decomposition, and multi-step execution.

• Develop LLM applications using GPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama, or similar models.

• Build RAG, embedding, vector retrieval, summarization, and prompt engineering solutions.

• Develop and deploy AI/ML solutions using Python.

• Evaluate GenAI applications for accuracy, grounding, citations, and hallucinations.

• Deploy and monitor AI solutions in cloud environments.

• Collaborate with technical and business teams and take ownership of projects.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on AI/ML engineering experience, including LLM and Generative AI development.

• Experience delivering end-to-end AI/ML or GenAI projects.

• Experience with agentic AI, including tool/function calling or frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, Strands, or AutoGen.

• Strong Python skills and working knowledge of SQL.

• Experience with LLMs, RAG, embeddings, prompt engineering, and AI evaluation.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Preferred

Experience with AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, MLOps, PyTorch, Keras, vector databases, Git, Linux, and NoSQL databases.
