AI Governance Lead | Hybrid
Build the Future of AI at Leatherman
At Leatherman, we build tools that people depend on when it matters most. For more than 40 years, we've earned that trust through thoughtful design, uncompromising quality, and a commitment to solving real-world problems. As artificial intelligence becomes an increasingly important part of how we work, we're applying that same philosophy to AI—using it responsibly, intentionally, and in ways that empower people.
We're looking for an AI Governance Manager to help shape how AI is adopted across our business. This is a unique opportunity to establish the standards, oversight, and governance practices that enable teams to innovate confidently while managing risk responsibly. You'll work with leaders across Technology, Legal, Security, and the business to build an AI governance program that supports innovation, accountability, and trust.
Position Summary
The AI Governance Manager establishes the standards, oversight, and operating practices that enable Leatherman to use artificial intelligence broadly, responsibly, and with appropriate risk management. This role defines how AI should be evaluated, approved, monitored, and used across varying levels of risk—from everyday assistive tools to AI-enabled workflows that make recommendations, automate decisions, or act on behalf of the business.
Working closely with the Applied AI team, IT Security, Legal, and leaders across the organization, this role develops and embeds governance expectations into AI platforms, tools, workflows, policies, and processes. The AI Governance Manager maintains visibility into where AI is operating across the company, how it is performing, and when risks or changes require a response.
Done well, this role provides the clear standards, practical oversight, and performance management needed to build trust in AI and help teams use it confidently and responsibly.

Out here in Oregon, we are used to getting things done you could call it our pioneering spirit. It's why Leatherman Tool Group is proud to support U.S. workers who, just like our founder Tim Leatherman, are dedicated to the quality craftsmanship that goes into each of our original American multi-tools.
After spending his childhood in Oregon, Tim Leatherman stayed local and received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University. A low-budget, post-college trip abroad, which included many fix-it situations, convinced Tim of the need for a pliers based multi-purpose tool.
Once back home in the states, Tim set to work developing his idea. On July 5, 1983 Leatherman Tool Group, Inc. was officially incorporated based on a few simple principles: manufacture quality products that deliver excellent value to the consumer while providing good, living-wage jobs to the local workforce. More than thirty years later we are still going strong in the U.S., in our home town of Portland, Oregon.
Every multi-tool and knife we make is crafted by one of the 600 Oregonians who call Leatherman a great place to work, and we stand behind our products with a no-questions-asked 25 year warranty. When asked about the company's devotion to quality, Tim always replies, it has to be perfect; my name is on every tool.
We are proud to live and work in the USA and it shows in every original multi-tool and knife we make. Leatherman. Leave nothing undone.
