AI Infrastructure Automation Engineer
Austin, TX (hybrid)
12+ Months Contract
Summary
Client is building a pool of Field Delivery Engineers (FDEs) to accelerate AI adoption across infrastructure engineering. This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role for engineers who use AI as their default approach to solving problems not developers who occasionally use AI tools, but engineers who lead with them to automate, modernize, and multiply team output.
Responsibility
- Identify and build infrastructure automation opportunities proactively, without waiting for direction
- Design and implement AI-enabled workflows and agents to reduce manual engineering effort
- Drive adoption of AI coding tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot) across engineering teams
- Establish repeatable, scalable practices for AI-first engineering
- Deliver and report measurable productivity gains not incremental improvements
- Act as a hands-on catalyst and mentor for existing engineering teams
Required Skills
- Strong Python development
- Infrastructure engineering, DevOps, and automation
- Cloud platforms (AWS preferred), Infrastructure as Code
- Proficiency with Cursor and/or GitHub Copilot; strong prompt engineering
- LLM-based/AI-assisted software development
- API development, scripting
- Strong problem-solving, self-starter mindset, excellent communication
Preferred Skills
- Agentic AI workflows and AI orchestration
- Infrastructure modernization and cloud migration
- Security automation and vulnerability management
- FinOps, observability, platform engineering
