Job Description

AI Orchestrator Engineer – Student Information System (SIS)
Remote (MST)
4-month contract with possibility of extending
Pay Rate: $60.00-80.00/hr.

This is not a traditional software development role where AI is simply used as a coding assistant. BYU-Pathway is specifically looking for an engineer who can leverage AI agents and custom AI skills to perform most, if not all, of the software development lifecycle. The engineer will use Claude Code and other AI-assisted development techniques to orchestrate agents that can perform activities such as:

  • Software development
  • Code review
  • Quality assurance and testing
  • Technical review
  • Documentation
  • Other SDLC activities

The engineer will also have the opportunity to build, improve, and maintain custom AI skills that instruct AI agents on how to perform specific types of development work.
BYU-Pathway Worldwide is seeking an experienced AI Orchestrator Engineer to support its Student Information System (SIS), specifically the Records & Registration project.
This role will focus on using AI agents and AI-assisted development workflows to build, enhance, test, and review software throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). The ideal candidate is a hands-on software engineer who understands modern AI development tools and can effectively orchestrate multiple AI agents to complete development work.
The selected resource will work alongside the existing BYU-Pathway engineering team to enhance functionality that enables students to register for courses and manage their academic enrollment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use Claude Code and AI agents throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Orchestrate multiple AI agents to complete development and engineering tasks.
  • Create, maintain, and improve custom AI skills that guide AI agents in performing development work.
  • Develop and enhance applications supporting student registration and academic enrollment.
  • Review and validate AI-generated code and development output.
  • Use AI agents to support development, QA, code review, and other SDLC activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing AI-agent workflows and skills.
  • Collaborate with the existing BYU-Pathway engineering team.
  • Ensure AI-generated solutions meet established engineering standards, requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the application and AI-assisted development workflow.
  • Apply traditional software engineering knowledge to evaluate, refine, and validate AI-generated work.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience using Claude, Claude Code, or a similar AI development/model platform.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools and agents throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience creating, maintaining, or improving custom AI skills, instructions, or workflows.
  • Experience orchestrating multiple AI agents to perform software development or other SDLC activities.
  • Strong software development experience with C# and .NET.
  • Strong software development experience with React.
  • Experience working with applications deployed in Azure and/or AWS.
  • Ability to review, troubleshoot, and validate AI-generated software and technical output.
  • Strong understanding of software development practices and the SDLC.
  • Experience working in a regulated, compliance-driven, or standards-heavy engineering environment.
  • Experience developing or implementing agentic AI workflows.
  • Experience using AI agents for multiple areas of the SDLC, such as development, QA, testing, code review, and documentation.
  • Experience designing repeatable AI-assisted engineering workflows.
  • Experience improving existing AI skills or developing new skills to support engineering teams.
