AI Security Platform Lead

Location: Bethesda, MD (REMOTE)

Duration: 12 months

Job Summary:

Lead and innovate in building a multi-service security compliance platform. Manage a small, agile team while contributing hands-on to platform development and architecture.

Core Responsibilities:

• Architect and develop a security compliance platform, integrating evidence collection and risk scoring.
• Lead and mentor a small engineering team, focusing on technical direction and team growth.
• Design agent-native APIs for AI agents to interact with compliance data.
• Develop compliance data models and ensure alignment with standards like OSCAL.
• Integrate enterprise systems into a cohesive compliance graph.
• Own technical decisions and document architectural choices.
• Facilitate cross-organizational collaboration and influence technical direction.

Technical Skills:

• Enterprise-scale distributed systems architecture.
• Proficiency in Python and one other language (Go, TypeScript, or Rust).
• API design expertise: REST, GraphQL, streaming/SSE.
• Security architecture knowledge: mTLS, OAuth2, zero-trust networking.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
• Understanding of AI/ML agent frameworks and agentic system design.
• Data lake and analytics architecture knowledge.

Experience:

• Masters in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8 years in software engineering or architecture; 5 years in security engineering or platform development.
• Experience in designing platforms for engineering teams.
• Proven leadership as a hands-on player-coach.
• Experience with regulatory compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, EU AI Act).
• Strong communication skills for cross-team coordination.
