Job Title: AI Solutions DeveloperLocation: RemoteDuration: 8 months



As an individual contributor, this role:

  • Defines the long?term AI, automation, and Power Platform strategy for our agile development teams.
  • Partners closely with business stakeholders to identify and automate high?value processes.
  • Develops and supports our products top?to?bottom, including custom applications, AI services, and Power Apps/Power Automate solutions, and ships software on a regular basis (anywhere from daily to every two weeks).
  • This role exercises considerable latitude and initiative to solve complex problems and influence the way our teams apply AI, automation, and modern engineering practices to build great products with quality.


Key Duties:

  • Acts as the lead subject matter expert on AI, automation, and full?stack software engineering on an agile delivery team, collaborating with product owners, designers, and other developers to deliver business value on an iterative basis.
  • Acts as the technology SME for AI and automation for the product team and often represents multiple teams and AI initiatives to outside stakeholders, including business partners.
  • Architects, engineers, tests, and releases highly scalable and maintainable, AI?enhanced, end?to?end software solutions, combining custom services/APIs with tools such as Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, and Azure AI services.
  • Ensures delivery of high?quality AI and automation solutions through clean coding practices and by utilizing pair programming, test?driven development (TDD), continuous integration, code reviews, and robust monitoring/telemetry of AI behavior and workflows.
  • Influences development of technology strategy for AI, automation, and low/no?code platforms aligned with achieving department goals and helps teams execute against that strategy.
  • Partners closely with business stakeholders to understand guest and employee journeys, map processes, identify automation opportunities, and design AI?powered solutions that drive measurable operational and guest?experience impact.
  • Actively engages in the technology industry by applying new concepts in AI/ML, large language models (LLMs), and low/no?code development, and by networking and speaking on behalf of Alaska at conferences and meetups.
  • Influences technology and AI maturity across divisions and upwards in the company, advocating for responsible AI, governance, and sustainable patterns for automation and Power Platform use.
  • Leverages a deep understanding of the team's guest experience, business, and systems to mentor other engineers and citizen developers across multiple teams in applying AI, automation, and Power Platform capabilities.
  • Participates in on-call rotation in conjunction with other team members to provide 24/7 coverage of portfolio's critical applications.Required Skills and Experience:
  • 7 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in Computer Science or a related field, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Experience must include:
  • Acting as a full?stack software engineer building custom, high?scale, n?tier applications using object?oriented languages (e.g., C#, Java, etc.).
  • Utilizing appropriate design patterns to create clean, maintainable, and performant code.
  • Expertise utilizing cloud technology and modern architecture practices to build high?scale distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI or advanced automation in real?world solutions, such as:
  • Integrating AI/ML or LLM?based services into applications or workflows, or
  • Using cloud AI services (e.g., Azure AI, cognitive services, AI Builder, or similar) to solve business problems.
  • Hands?on experience building solutions with low/no?code or workflow automation platforms, preferably Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps and/or Power Automate).
  • Expertise mentoring other engineers and driving code quality via principles such as SOLID and modern design patterns.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to drive new ideas and technologies, especially AI and automation, within communities of developers and business stakeholders.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with the Microsoft Technology stack (e.g., .NET framework, .NET Core, MS SQL, Azure cloud).
  • Experience with modern Angular (version 10+).
  • Experience leading technical projects with teams of 3 or more Engineers.
  • Experience with containers and container technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
  • Experience with unit testing and functional test automation (front and back end).
  • Deep experience with AI/ML, including one or more of:
  • Large language models (LLMs), Azure OpenAI Service, Azure Cognitive Services, AI Builder, or similar cloud AI platforms.
  • Designing, evaluating, and monitoring AI components in production systems.
  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering practices.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and supporting tools, particularly Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in Agile/Lean development methodologies.
  • Experience negotiating requirements with stakeholders directly, including running workshops or discovery sessions with business partners.
