The AI Systems Engineer will play a key role in translating emerging AI capabilities into secure, reliable, and practical solutions for a law firm environment.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently, stay current on emerging technologies, own complex systems end-to-end, and partner effectively with attorneys, business professionals, and IT colleagues to deliver meaningful, production-grade solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyze, recommend, integrate, deploy, and support AI-powered systems that improve Firm-wide productivity and support legal and administrative workflows.
  • Implement and maintain AI-enabled applications and services, including Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude Enterprise Chat and Cowork, and integrations built on OpenAI and Anthropic.
  • Design, test, document, and maintain effective LLM prompts, prompt frameworks, and reusable instructions tailored for legal and professional services use cases, with attention to accuracy, confidentiality, and context.
  • Design and implement system integrations using REST APIs, SDKs, and SQL-based data interactions to connect AI capabilities with Firm systems and data sources.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain secure Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and related middleware to enable controlled, auditable AI access to Firm data systems, ensuring appropriate authentication, authorization, and data governance controls.
  • Maintain and optimize integrations between AI platforms and Firm data repositories (e.g., document management, financial, CRM, and knowledge systems), ensuring data accuracy, contextual relevance, and adherence to ethical walls and confidentiality requirements.
  • Develop scripts, automation, and tooling using Python, PowerShell, or comparable languages to support AI systems, system reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Build, deploy, and maintain solutions using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse) and Copilot Studio, including workflow orchestration, connectors, and AI-assisted experiences.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Applications, and Helpdesk teams to ensure AI-enabled systems meet Firm standards for reliability, performance, and security.
SOLUTION DESIGN AND PROJECT DELIVERY:
  • Partner with attorneys, administrators, and business stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze processes, and identify opportunities for AI-driven improvement.
  • Define functional and technical requirements and design solutions aligned with Firm business objectives and IT standards.
  • Own projects from concept through production, including scoping, design, implementation, testing, rollout, documentation, and ongoing support.
OPERATIONS, RELIABILITY, AND SECURITY:
  • Support AI-enabled systems operating across cloud and on-premises environments, including applications, infrastructure, and supporting services.
  • Monitor and support production environments to help ensure availability, stability, performance, and operational readiness.
  • Assist with vulnerability remediation, preventive maintenance, and adherence to Firm security and operational policies.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and end-user guidance.
  • Stay current on AI, automation, and platform developments and recommend improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 6+ years of experience integrating systems using REST APIs, SDKs, and SQL, and experience designing, deploying, or supporting Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers or comparable middleware architectures that enable secure, governed AI access to enterprise data sources.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, and Entra/ Active Directory.
  • Experience working in a professional services or legal environment preferred.
  • Hands-on experience or demonstrated capability with AI-powered tools and large language models (LLMs), including OpenAI-based systems and ChatGPT Enterprise.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Power Platform and Copilot Studio, including solution design, automation, and managed deployment.
  • Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or comparable scripting and development languages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear, precise, and effective prompts and structured instructions for AI systems.
  • Demonstrates understanding of authentication, authorization, and data governance principles when connecting AI systems to document management, financial, CRM, or other enterprise platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical and operational issues.
  • Demonstrates ability to deliver technical systems end-to-end, from requirements and design through production support.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment while collaborating effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
