    JOB TITLE: Adaptive Behavior Aide

    REPORTS TO: Principal

    WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

    PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    Assist alternative education teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certification:

    High School diploma or GED and meet one of the following qualifications:

    1. Associate's Degree (or higher); or

    2. Completion of 48 semester hours at an accredited institution of higher education; or

    3. Obtained an academic assessment from a previous school district meeting a rigorous standard of quality

    Educational Aide II Certificate (or be willing to obtain)

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

    Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

    Ability to work well with special needs children.

    Experience:

    One-year experience working with children preferred.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Assist alternative education teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
    • Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignment
    • Help maintain neat and orderly classroom
    • Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment

    • Help alternative education teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
    • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
    • Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the alternative education teacher
    • Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned
    • Assist in the classroom or other offices when needed
    • Perform all other duties as assigned

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Moderate lifting, carrying, standing, stopping, and bending.
