POSITION SUMMARY

Assist in the implementation of student Individual Education Programs and in the delivery of the school's instructional program. This assignment will primarily be working with students who need support in behavioral, social, and emotional strategies. Position will assist in instruction of social skills and various curricular areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist with development and implementation of behavior intervention plans

  2. Implement behavior plans for students with disabilities across settings including the alternative program site (Great Expectations) and students' home school (Badger Middle School or Silverbrook Intermediate School).

  3. Collect ongoing data regarding student progress report back to primary special education with a detailed description of the behavior, summary statement describing the function of behavior, interventions used and their results, behavioral goals, plan for teaching and supporting the new behavior, including crisis intervention plan.

  4. Work collaboratively with regular education teachers and special education teachers to design necessary modifications or to implement needed accommodations on behalf of students.

  5. Provide opportunities, information, and instruction to students individually and in small groups

  6. Communicate with teaching staff, parents, and students about program and student progress and behavior

  7. Assist students in accessing resources and completing assignments

  8. Demonstrate, monitor, and encourage positive student behaviors and enforce school rules

  9. Maintain student files and attendance records

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attend IEP meetings regarding student progress or program implementation as required

  2. Maintain student behavior logs and attendance records

  3. Assume duties of other staff members on an occasional or temporary basis

  4. Perform other duties as assigned which are fairly within the scope of duties normally performed by school aides

  5. Demonstrate, monitor, and encourage positive student behaviors, discipline as necessary and enforce school policies and procedures
