Position: Aide - Piano Accompanist

Location: Huntington/Coweeman Middle School

Position Details: 2.25hrs, 8:15-9:15am at Huntington, 9:15-10:30am at Coweeman, 191 days/year.

Pay Range:PSE 1 Salary Schedule

Benefits: This position is NOT eligible for medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. Paid time off and other benefits are offered in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Public School Employees of Kelso Chapter #1 found HERE.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Play piano or assist with various musical groups as requested
  • Assist students and/or staff as directed
  • Willingness to participate in various after school activities, programs and/or trainings
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies
  • Must have regular and consistent attendance

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to play/sight read choral music of various styles (classical, pop, jazz) on the piano
  • Ability to effectively supervise sectionals of students
  • Ability to work closely with the rhythm section when appropriate
  • Ability to perform clerical duties involving the care and organization of music
  • Ability to uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
  • Ability to effectively supervise students in all school areas
  • Ability to work with individuals and in small groups with students
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with parents and staff members
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-motivator towards assigned duties
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters appropriately and ethically
  • Demonstrated ability to accept direction and constructive criticism
  • Willingness to take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently operate common office machines and equipment used in a schools such as computer, copier, etc.
  • Must be able to use proper grammar and spelling in written and oral communication
  • Neat, clean personal appearance and personal traits that make him/her a good role model for students; work apparel should be appropriate for a professional and safe work environment

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma and/or equivalent; prior job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform all other duties as assigned
