Primary Purpose:

The essential function of the position within the school is to assist in coaching and training students with disabilities in necessary work and life skills. The position is responsible for providing successful learning experiences for assigned students appropriate to age, grade level and individual capacity; maintaining accurate work records, and performing related tasks as assigned. The position works under general supervision according to some procedures; it decides how and when to complete tasks.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate or willing to obtain certificate
• SAMA certification (or able to obtain after hire)
• Valid and Current Texas Driver's License (must submit a copy if offered employment)
• Clean Driving Record

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to work with children with disabilities
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Knowledge of general office equipment

Experience:

• Minimum of one year experience in secondary special education
