Position Title:

Air Quality Engineering Scientist - (26141806)

The Air Quality Engineering Scientist performs unique analyses, calculations, and professional functions essential to the implementation of the air quality program in the state of Montana. Responsibilities include: Review to determine, prescribe, and assess the design and implementation of structures, devices, systems and processes meet air pollution compliance and control regulations; Analysis to determine whether facilities, equipment and industrial processes are constructed and operated in compliance with air quality rules and permit requirements; Review and implementation of state and federal statutes, rules, and policies; and Acting as a liaison for the Department to the public and industry on air quality matters; and conduct field inspections at a variety of industrial sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in engineering, particularly environmental engineering or a closely related field of engineering preferred.

Additional degrees preferred: Biology, Chemistry, Atmospheric Science, or related field in Science.

  • Two years of job-related experience in environmental engineering design and compliance, or in a related engineering profession preferred.

Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
