Position Immediate opening for an Aircraft Mechanic I in the Aircraft Repair operations at NAS Norfolk, VA.Responsibilities This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units.Uses hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.Works with hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.Reads and interprets manufacturers', airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, engine‑mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves.Removes engine from aircraft using a hoist or forklift truck, disassembles and inspects parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, repairs or replaces defective engine parts, reassembles, and installs the engine in the aircraft.Adjusts, makes repairs, or replaces electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.Performs preflight, thru‑flight, and post‑flight maintenance inspections.Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft.Enters maintenance records describing the work performed and verifies the work meets satisfactory standards.Services engines and airframe components at line station, making repairs short of overhaul.Maintains aircraft in safe operating condition, specializing in repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts, assemblies, and engine repair.Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent.Requires an Active Secret Clearance.Graduate of Military Service Aircraft Maintenance Program or A&P License highly desired.MH-60S Maintenance Experience highly desired.Systems Studies and Simulation, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
