Job SummaryAmentum is immediately hiring a qualified Line work center Aircraft Mechanic I in support of U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance / flight operations at NAS Oceana Virginia Beach, VA. VFA-106. This position includes all duties of a General Aircraft Mechanic 1, with a work center 310 (Line) background on the F/A-18, and must maintain currency as a qualified Plane Captain. The applicant will support the Navy's daily scheduled/unscheduled flight and maintenance operations, prioritizing customer needs and responding quickly to changing operational requirements.Minimum RequirementsShift work required; detachments possible.High School graduate or equivalent.Minimum of 3 years of recent F/A-18 aircraft maintenance experience at organizational level, with at least 3 years as F/A-18 A‑F Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) or Quality Assurance Representative.Obtain CDI within 30 days of promotion/hire date.Valid Virginia or North Carolina driver license (if North Carolina resident).Completed a military Aviation technical “A” School.F/A‑18 E/F Plane Captain qualified.Extensive knowledge of W/C 310 daily operational requirements and OOMA procedures.Proficiency with special tools/equipment required for maintenance tasks.Comprehensive knowledge of IETMS, COMNAVAIRFORCES 4790.2 Series and related maintenance/inspection publications.Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.Self‑motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision.Work performed primarily outdoors under all weather conditions, with exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumes.Meet physical requirements and pass any medical examination related to daily tasks.Obtain a contractor verification system status, including a 7‑year background check and a security clearance for public trust.Maintain facility credentials/authorization; U.S. citizenship required for credentials.Preferred QualificationsRamp Stamp (restricted/unrestricted).A/S32A‑45 Tow Tractor.A/M32A‑108; A/M24M‑6 power carts.Other ResponsibilitiesSafety – All employees are responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, completing training, fulfilling self‑aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks, and serving on safety committees and teams.Quality – Quality is a cornerstone of our operations.
