Summary:
Repairs and overhauls structures for P8 aircraft.
Identifies fastener types including rivets, blind rivets, screws, hi-locks, bolts, and lock bolts.
Reads and interprets blueprints, process data sheets, and maintenance instruction manuals.
Removes and reinstalls access panels and fairings, and removes damaged screws without damaging surrounding structure.
Applies aircraft finishes including primer, paint, Alodine, and sealants.
Performs close tolerance drilling within .001 and precision measurement within .0005 on metallic and composite structures.
Performs structural repairs and modifications on strike fighters, commercial derivative aircraft, and flight control components.
Uses measuring tools including micrometers, dial calipers, grip gauges, feeler gauges, depth gauges, trimics, and bore gages.
Fabricates, locates, trims, drills or reams, and assembles metallic and composite components using Assembly Jigs and Repair Equipment.
Completes aircraft technical log book, maintenance documentation, work packages, and zonal handovers accurately and within prescribed timescales.
Requirements:
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
3+ years of Aircraft Mechanic experience in commercial, defense, or relevant trade apprenticeship.
3+ years experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
Ability to close tolerance drill within .003 and precision measure within .003.
Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite.
