Airframe Engineer - San Francisco, CA - APR26 - 0701 (contract)
Our client, in the San Francisco CA area focused on developing autonomous cargo aircraft for defense and commercial applications, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Structures to support the design, build, and testing of aircraft structures and flight-critical systems as part of its growing engineering team.
Position purpose/core responsibilities:
Main Duties:
Assist in the design of airframe structures and subsystems (flight controls, landing gear, propulsion, avionics).
Develop CAD models and support structural analysis.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
Support material selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
Assist in ground and flight testing activities.
Prepare technical documentation and design reports.
Support production and continuous improvement of structural systems.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (master's preferred).
5 years of relevant experience
Experience with aircraft structures or flight-critical hardware is a plus.
Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar).
Knowledge of structural analysis methods (classical and finite element analysis).
Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical principles.
Familiarity with aerospace certification processes is a plus
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
