    Airframe Engineer - San Francisco, CA - APR26 - 0701 (contract)

    Our client, in the San Francisco CA area focused on developing autonomous cargo aircraft for defense and commercial applications, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Structures to support the design, build, and testing of aircraft structures and flight-critical systems as part of its growing engineering team.

    Position purpose/core responsibilities:

    Main Duties:

    • Assist in the design of airframe structures and subsystems (flight controls, landing gear, propulsion, avionics).
    • Develop CAD models and support structural analysis.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
    • Support material selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
    • Assist in ground and flight testing activities.
    • Prepare technical documentation and design reports.
    • Support production and continuous improvement of structural systems.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (master's preferred).
    • 5 years of relevant experience
    • Experience with aircraft structures or flight-critical hardware is a plus.
    • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar).
    • Knowledge of structural analysis methods (classical and finite element analysis).
    • Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical principles.
    • Familiarity with aerospace certification processes is a plus
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
    • Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
