Work Schedule: Varies - Open 7AM -8PM (Mon-Fri) & 8AM-8PM (Sat-Sun)

Summary

This position is responsible for providing ground support for aircraft, fueling equipment, and providing support to the Line Service team to ensure efficient and safe aircraft operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

NOTE: Employee may be required to respond to a disaster, either natural or man-made, to serve the citizens of Statesville and meet the needs of the organization, which may result in the assignment of other duties and take precedence over duties described in this job description. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.

  • Provides ground support to aircraft, including marshaling, fueling, towing, and aircraft servicing and maintenance.
  • Moves and parks aircraft in assigned locations with tractors and tow bars.
  • Prepares aircraft for flight by pulling from hangar or parking space with aircraft tow tractor and adding required fuel per the pilots' request.
  • Assists crew and customers; provides directions, luggage assistance, rental assistance, etc.
  • Completes required paperwork for fuel purchases.
  • Processes credit card or cash sales.
  • Connects and disconnects ground power units, services lavatories, stands as fire watch when starting engines, and directs aircraft on departure from ramp.
  • Operates ground service equipment such as tow tractors, aircraft refueling trucks, and ground power units.
  • Removes trash and debris from the ramp areas of the airport.
  • Maintains fueling equipment, including fuel trucks, fuel pumps, and fuel storage tanks to ensure safe and efficient fueling operations.
  • Performs routine inspections and maintenance of equipment, ensuring that all equipment is in good working condition and meets all safety requirements.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of fuel, oil, and other supplies, ensuring that all inventory is properly stored and maintained in accordance with company regulations.
  • Operates and maintains company vehicles, including fuel trucks, service carts, and other vehicles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Maintenance / Mechanical experience.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license, or any valid driver's license with ability to obtain a North Carolina driver's license within 60 days of establishing a permanent residence in North Carolina.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • General knowledge of safe aviation ground procedures, fueling procedures, and towing processes.
  • General knowledge of airport, fire, and safety precautions and specialized emergency procedures.
  • General knowledge of storage and fueling procedures of aviation fuel.
  • General knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance of airport buildings and grounds including runways, electrical systems, landscape areas, and irrigation systems.
  • Ability to maintain basic records and simple arithmetic computations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with equipment.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, customers, associates, supervisors, and the general public.

Job Related Physical Requirements

This position involves heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activity related to this position may require the use of fingers and hands, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, peripheral vision, operation of machines, motor vehicles, or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.

Working Conditions

The employee is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, wind, hazards, atmospheric conditions, oils, and fuels. Employee may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
