Airport Telecommunications Technician

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Three years of experience in the installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of complex communications equipment; Certificate of Completion in Electronics from a vocational school and one year of experience in the installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of complex communications equipment; or Completion of 60 semester credits to include 15 semester credits in Electronics or Electrical Engineering and one year of experience in the installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of complex communications equipment are required. Must possess a Driver license.

This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunications systems crucial for the Miami-Dade Aviation Departments airport operations. Job duties include working with terminal-wide public address (PA)/fire annunciation systems, automated flight announcement systems (FAS), dynamic LED signage, computer hardware and software, providing technical support, working with various telecommunications equipment, including phones, data lines, and network infrastructure such as cable television system (CATV), radio networks, automatic vehicle identification systems (AVI), security checkpoint flex response system, taxi lot airport entrance control system, and other electronic systems.

Airport Security

Applicants qualifying for employment with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department will be subject to extensive security screening, including but not limited to fingerprint checks, employment verification, and other such procedures as may be mandated by federal law. The security clearance required by federal law is a continuing condition of employment.
