    Job Description

    Performs responsible shift work in two distinct areas of operation: Airport Communications for Operations/Security and Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) dispatching. Monitors, receives, screens, and dispatches both emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone, radio, computer, and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV). Communicates and assists the public on the phone; pages passengers; answers consoles; dispatches maintenance and operations officers. Performs recordkeeping; receives and disseminates alert information to the appropriate agencies via radio, telephone, pagers, and computers; maintains logs for security and maintenance purposes. Provides customer service to callers in a friendly and professional manner; works to resolve issues quickly and effectively. Applies knowledge of Airport tenants and services.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:

    • Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of airline or airport operations experience,

    OR

    • Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of experience in a public safety communication center environment.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Preferred qualifications include:

    • Experience operating a multi-line telephone system (must specify on application),
    • Experience operating communications center technologies, including access control and CCTV systems (must specify on application),
    • Completion of the Palm Beach State College (PBSC) Public Safety Telecommunications Postsecondary Adult Vocational (PSAV) course or its Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) equivalent (must specify on application),
    • Completion of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Incident Management System (NIMS)/ Incident Command System (ICS) IS-100 and IS-700 courses (must specify on application),
    • Experience with Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 139, Certification of Airports, and
    • Experience with CFR Part 1542, Airport Security (must specify on application).
