As part of our Operations Crew, you'll:
Keep the airport safe: Perform daily FAA Part 139 airfield inspections and report on aircraft and airport operations.
Be hands-on with repairs: Adjust, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment, electrical fixtures, plumbing systems, fencing/gates, pavements, and more.
Operate cool equipment: From powered maintenance machines to lifts and vehicles - you'll get to use it all.
Respond to the unexpected: From fuel spills to emergencies, you'll be part of the team that jumps into action.

Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties in facilities and grounds maintenance at the County Airport; assists in airport operations as required; does other related work as required.
Typical Tasks and Representative Duties
Routinely inspects airport buildings and premises including daily FAA Part 139 airside inspections; schedules and performs preventive maintenance on all County airport equipment and systems; performs a wide variety of unskilled, and semi-skilled work in the maintenance and security of airport facilities and grounds; adjusts, maintains and repairs mechanical equipment, electrical fixtures, appliances, plumbing systems, structures, fencing/gates, pavements, and powered maintenance equipment; performs routine custodial work as required; operates assigned powered maintenance equipment; maintains airport grounds including routine maintenance work in landscaped areas, cultivating planter bed, mowing, raking, litter pickup and removal of undesirable vegetative growth, repairs irrigation and water systems; checks and reports on aviation fuel spills, sewer, water, and oil storage/distribution systems; may respond to airport emergencies; monitors and reports on aircraft and airport operations; enforces airport regulations, including parking ordinances; performs other general maintenance, grounds maintenance and repairs as required.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of maintenance methods for facilities, structures, grounds, pavements, and associated airport equipment and systems, and the tools, materials, and equipment necessary to complete associated tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFCATIONS
Education and Experience:
A combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of facility and/or grounds maintenance experience is required.
Licenses and Certificates:
A valid drivers license is required at the time of application. A valid CALIFORNIA drivers license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.
Other Conditions of Employment
Employees in this classification may be required to work holidays, weekends, and irregular hours. Applicants will be subject to a ten-year background check prior to employment and are required to pass a pre-employment medical examination to determine fitness to perform the duties of the job. Must pass a background and law enforcement security check for this position.

Pension Benefit and Employee Contribution Rates:
The Countys pension is a defined benefit plan that provides a guaranteed monthly pension payment for life based on your time in service, wages, and other factors. The County is the primary contributor to the pension fund, but the health of the pension fund also depends on mandatory employee contributions. Employees are required to pay a percentage of their base pay towards the pension fund, ranging from 5% to 19%. This amount is deducted from your paycheck pre-tax every pay period. The County offers comprehensive medical coverage to you and your family, along with two dental plan options and vision coverage. All permanent employees receive a monthly employer contribution (or 'cafeteria' contribution) to help them pay for their portion of the medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums. The amount of the cafeteria contribution varies by Bargaining Unit (BU) and the extent to which employees enroll their dependents. If the cafeteria amount is greater than your selected premiums, the remainder of the cafeteria is paid out to you in your paycheck as taxable income. If the cafeteria amount is less than your monthly premiums, you pay the remainder of the premiums with pre-tax wages.
