JOB TITLE: Airworthiness Inspector
LOCATION:Savannah, GA
PAY RATE: $72.00/hour

Qualifying Questions:

Summary: 

  • Performs inspection and airworthiness inspection duties utilizing accepted and approved data including QC and QA procedures, instructions, and related documents.

  • Conducts first article inspections to ensure compliance with FAA and ODA approved procedures and ensures all associated records are properly completed.

  • Performs inspections and certifies aircraft and components as airworthy prior to delivery and Return to Service.

  • Issues FAA 8130-3 Forms in accordance with FAA and ODA requirements for authorized functions including conformity, prototype, export, and 14 CFR Part 43 Return to Service activities.

  • Plans and performs certification inspections to type design requirements in support of aircraft and component certification.

  • Monitors repair station compliance to the requirements of 14 CFR Part 145 and the FAA accepted site Repair Station and Quality Control Manuals.

  • Develops and approves aircraft log book entries relating to aircraft configuration and installations.

  • Performs FAA aircraft and component certification activities as an ODA Inspection Authorized Representative (IAR).

  • Manages product and article certification activities and provides technical support to inspection personnel in supporting FAA and ODA documented requirements.

  • Applies verifiable working knowledge of FAA Regulations, Orders, and guidance pertinent to export airworthiness approvals and conformity determination as defined in FAA Order 8100.8D Appendix A and 8100.15.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Seven (7) years of aircraft inspection experience, including three (3) years inspection experience on large or mid-size aircraft (or same type and complexity).

  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license preferred, or must be able to obtain a Repairman Certificate.

  • Ability to obtain ODA Inspection Authorized Representative (IAR) designee appointment within established timeframe depending on function codes required.

  • Proficient in blueprint and drawing reading, use and interpretation of Maintenance Manuals, CMP, ADTS, Travelers, Customer Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, test specifications, and other manufacturing and inspection related documentation.

  • Competent in the use of all job-related tools and equipment.

  • Working knowledge and application of Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems and methodologies.

  • Knowledge of FAA Regulations, Orders, and guidance pertinent to issuance of export airworthiness approvals and conformity determination.

  • Preferred: Previous experience as a DAR, DMIR, ODAR, or ODA-Unit Member in good standing, ASQ certification, or Inspection Authorization (IA).
