    JOB SUMMARY The Intervention Specialist - Teacher is part of a team that provides integrated services to the student. The Intervention Specialist - Teacher will develop an appropriate individual educational program in multiple content areas for each student in the classroom. The Intervention Specialist - Teacher will focus on creating a learning environment that promotes student learning; assess student progress; and provide appropriate academic and behavioral interventions for each student. QUALIFICATIONS

    • Ohio State Board of Education licensure as an Intervention Specialist: Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Intensive, or Ohio State Board of Education licensure in Education of the Handicapped Severe Behavior Handicapped
    • Prior experience working with students with severe emotional disabilities preferred

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Establish an effective, classroom instructional program aligned with the Ohio Academic Content Standards
    • Prepare daily lesson plans, plan strategies, and activities to meet identified needs of students, implement student individual education plan (IEP)
    • Assess students, and evaluate student's progress through the utilization of established procedures
    • Demonstrate the ability to maintain an effective classroom management system, provide for special behavioral needs of individual students, and document/report all significant behavior
    • Provide direction and guidance to instructional assistants through the discussion of established procedures, development of a daily schedule, and coordinated implementation of program goals and objectives
    • Administer standardized achievement tests; evaluate, interpret, and apply results from standardized achievement tests; administer alternate assessments when appropriate.
    • Utilize the resources of the school district, county, and region to constantly improve the quality of instruction
    • Prepare classrooms for class activities and provide a variety of materials and resources to promote student learning
    • Maintain a safe classroom environment; report any safety concerns to Director
    • Develop a daily communication system with parents and/or caregivers
    • Participate with all staff members to develop an appropriate, effective transdisciplinary approach to meet the individual needs of the students
    • Maintain accurate and complete student records; prepare and submit all required reports
    • Collect data to evaluate the effectiveness of the program, make recommendations to the Director for program improvements
