We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Academic Tutor to join our team at Nichols Elementary School. This part-time position is designed for individuals who are eager to support students in their academic journey, helping them to enhance their understanding of math and reading. The ideal candidate will create a positive and encouraging learning environment, fostering a love for learning and academic success among middle school students.
Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions in math and reading.
Assess student learning needs and develop personalized tutoring plans to address specific challenges and goals.
Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students and staff.
Foster a supportive and motivating atmosphere that encourages student engagement and confidence.
Collaborate with teachers and staff to align tutoring sessions with identified needs.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and feedback.
Participate in training and professional development opportunities as required.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in education, a relevant subject area, or equivalent experience preferred.
Previous tutoring or teaching experience, particularly with elementary school students preferred.
Strong knowledge of elementary curriculum and educational best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and foster a positive learning environment.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed academically.
Background check clearance as required by school district policies.
Proficiency in using educational technology and online learning platforms is a plus.
