Assistant Director of Psychological and Itinerant Services

Office of Special Education Services | Hartford Public Schools

Hartford Public Schools is seeking an experienced, mission-driven leader to serve as Assistant Director of Psychological and Itinerant Services. In this role, youll provide leadership and coordination for the districts psychological and itinerant service providers, including school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, physical and occupational therapists, and teachers of the hearing- and visually impaired.

What Youll Do:

• Provide comprehensive leadership for psychological and itinerant services district-wide
• Supervise and coordinate a diverse team of service providers
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local special education requirements
• Guide processes related to student eligibility, IEP development, and educational placements
• Resolve complex, sensitive matters through strong stakeholder communication

What You Bring:

• Advanced degree in education or related field (Ph.D./Ed.D. preferred)
• Minimum 5 years of successful experience in special education settings
• Deep knowledge of FAPE, LRE, and IEP processes
• Connecticut Intermediate Administrative Certification (092) and special education certification required

Salary: $137,101-$146,249 (HPSA Group 11, 12-month work year), plus tuition reimbursement, residency differential, and a doctoral pay differential.
