REPORTS TO Supervisor of Mathematics
POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the Supervisor of Mathematics the Math Coach ensures students receive high-quality mathematics instruction by providing teachers in a school building professional development through modeling lessons observations and feedback sessions data analysis and more. The Math Coach serves as the mathematics content expert and provides support on curriculum instruction and assessment working closely with the administration in a school. The Math Coach takes a hands-on approach to improving instruction and effectiveness by working at various levels classroom school district-wide to directly support instruction intervention and Mathematical Development for all students including students with disabilities and multilingual learners.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Five years of successful teaching experience. Knowledge of research-based curriculum instruction and assessment practices. Knowledge of Common Core and Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium. Experience using instructional technology to support teaching and learning curriculum development staff training and program and student accountability. Outstanding organizational skills and close attention to detail outstanding written and oral communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities adapt to change quickly and meet deadlines. Proactive problem solver who demonstrates initiative. Strong work ethic coupled with an enthusiastic and passionate approach to ones work. Commitment to the belief that all students can learn to educational equity and the vision and mission of New Haven Public Schools
CERTIFICATION ENDORSEMENT REQUIREMENTS•Valid teaching certification•305 PK-6 Elem AND either 229 4-8 Middle School Math or 029 4-12 High School Math
EVALUATION Evaluated annually by the Supervisor of Mathematics
