We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Math Tutor to join our team at Second Hill Lane. This part-time position is ideal for individuals who have a passion for mathematics and a desire to help students achieve their academic goals. The Math Tutor will work with students of varying skill levels, providing personalized instruction and support to enhance their understanding and confidence in math. Certified tutors will be paid at the rate of $35.00 per hour; non-certified $30.00 per hour
Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions in mathematics to students of different ages and skill levels.
Assess students' understanding of mathematical concepts and tailor tutoring sessions to meet their individual needs.
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards.
Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and encouragement to motivate students.
Communicate effectively with interventionists, students, parents, and teachers to discuss student performance and areas for improvement.
Assist students in preparing for tests, quizzes, and standardized assessments.
Create a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters student growth and confidence in math.
Stay updated on current teaching methods and educational resources related to mathematics.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree - Previous tutoring or teaching experience preferred, especially in mathematics.
Strong understanding of mathematical concepts and ability to explain them clearly.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed.
Familiarity with various teaching tools and resources, including technology-based platforms for remote tutoring.
Background check may be required.
Preference will be given to candidates with a State of Connecticut educator certification; a background in education; awaiting certification; or are college students enrolled in an education/certification program.
