    Job Description:

    Reading Tutor provides intervention and instruction to students who are not yet performing at grade level in reading. The RT works with individual students or small groups and follows a schedule and protocol provided by certified teachers and the school adminstration. The RT is also responsible for progress monitoring assessments and data entry.

    Supervised by:

    School Principal and/or their designee.

    Qualifications:

    • College degree (teaching certification preferred)
    • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Knowledge of reading and writing skill building
    • Knowledge of progress monitoring measures (eg. reading fluency and comprehension)
    • Experience working with middle school students

    Work Environment:

    • Often work indoors, moving between classrooms and other school areas
    • May work outdoors during physical education and recess.
    • May be exposed to noise levels that are distracting
    • Work near others, often within a few feet
    • Work related tasks may be subject to deadlines and time constraints

    Physical Demands*

    • Must possess the ability to stand, sit, and walk unassisted and provide movement assistance to students as needed
    • Must possess the ability to lower self to a seated position on floors, and to move from a seated position on floor to standing position unassisted
    • Must possess normal visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses, and depth perception

    Work Days:

    • Monday - Friday, School Year calendar

    Work Scheduled:

    • School Year Claendar - 7:55 am to 3:00pm

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • EWPS offers an exceptional benefits package, including paid time off, participation in the Town of East WIndsor sponsored retirement plan, and a percentage cost share for premium health, vision and dental insurance plans. (percentage amount may be based on current collective bargaining agreement)
    • Hourly compensation $25.00.14-$28.51, based on experience
