JOB OBJECTIVE: Provide an educational atmosphere for At-Risk students to fulfill their potential for intellectual, psychological and physical growth and maturation. Provide a flexible class environment favorable to learning and individual growth. Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge sufficient for a solid foundation for higher grade education in accordance with each student's abilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: Current Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction teaching certificate required for the assigned instructional area(s). Related bachelors degree from an accredited university. Technology skills appropriate for the assigned instructional area(s).
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Identify specific intended learning outcomes which are challenging, meaningful and measurable
Select, develop, modify and/or adapt materials and resources which support learning objectives and address students' varying learning styles, socio-economic backgrounds and special needs
Establish and maintain a positive and safe learning environment in which students are actively engaged in the learning process
Maintain a clean, attractive and organized learning environment
Establish and use behavior management techniques which are appropriate and effective
Develop and use assessment strategies (traditional and alternative) to assist the continuous development of learners
Interpret and use data (including but not limited to standardized and other test results) for diagnosis, instructional planning, and program evaluation
Provide feedback to students about the appropriateness of responses and quality of work with a focus on improving student performance
Encourage self-assessment by students and assist them in developing plans for improving their performance
Maintain accurate and complete student records in accordance with district policies and state requirements
Enforce administration policies and rules governing assigned students and class activities
Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and student work time
Plan and facilitate class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from these opportunities
Participate cooperatively with the Building Principal or other administrator in activities providing for teacher performance evaluations and educator effectiveness in accordance with district policies and state requirements
Collaborate with other staff members on student achievement and instructional methods
Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required
Communicate weekly updates with students and parents regarding academic progress
Embrace online learning programming
Establish workplace opportunities for students and evaluate student performance in the workplace
Grow professionally in all academic subject areas to support students
Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests
Maintain a current education knowledge base through educator networks, educational workshops, and professional publications
Additional duties as deemed appropriate at the sole discretion of district leadership
