This unique teaching position is located at the Brown County Institute of Learning, which is housed at the Brown County Jail and Juvenile Detention Center. Serving students in grades 4-12, it maintains a highly focused, specialized learning environment that benefits from a low teacher:student ratio. The goals of this position/program are:
Utilize innovative pathways to promote academic success
Continue academic progress towards course completion and/or graduation
Improve educational services for students so they have the opportunity to meet challenging state academic content and achievement standards;
Provide services to successfully transition students between facility and districts; and prevent youth who are at-risk from dropping out of school, and to provide dropouts and children and youth returning from correctional facilities with a support system to ensure their continued education.
Education: Bachelor's Degree and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Special Education Certification at the Appropriate Grade Level(s)
