Your Opportunity

At Schwab, you're empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us "challenge the status quo" and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

Charles Schwab's Alternative Investment Custody Services (AICS) Asset Acceptance Team is on the forefront of assisting internal business partners with all inquiries related to onboarding new alternative investments including but not limited to risk prevention, processing, and education of policies and procedures related to alternative investments. We focus on improving operating use by integrating functions, increasing productivity, and gaining efficiencies to better position Schwab to challenge in the marketplace and to reinvest in areas that matter most to our clients. As a member of a highly specialized team of subject matter experts, we are committed to delivering efficient solutions that enhance trust while minimizing risk by owning every client interaction through clients' eyes.

Alternative Investments at Schwab are non-publicly traded assets such as hedge funds, hedge funds of funds, offshore funds, private limited partnerships, limited liability companies, private common stock, commodity pools, and non-traded 1933 Act registered REITs.

As a Sr. Specialist Risk Analyst, you will pursue our mission and values. You will have the exciting opportunity to:

  • Perform the initial review of Alternative Investment securities that are new to the Schwab platform.
  • Perform quality control of and approval on security level reviews performed by other members of the team.

  • Perform the ongoing review of the Alternative Investments held in custody at Schwab, including obtaining audits and additional documents from issuers. The documents are reviewed against a set of risk criteria. Based on the outcome of this review, the Sr. Specialist will decide if the security is acceptable for continued custody on Schwab's platform, or if the security should be exited from the platform.
  • Complete quality control reviews of statement pricing and fair market valuations performed by the third-party vendor
  • Perform outreach to issuers and to the third-party vendor for current prices on securities that will soon exceed Schwab's Alternative Investment aged pricing policy.
  • Assist Team Manager in identifying areas of opportunity and enhancing process efficiencies.
  • Master all team functions, including a comprehensive understanding of related processes.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of alternative investments and the industry.
  • Meet expected service level agreements with respect to case reviews and additional team processing responsibilities.
  • Create and leverage partnerships with various teams throughout the firm, including multiple teams within Alternative Investment Custody Services, numerous groups within Operational Services and Advisor Services and Investor Services support teams.
  • Provide guidance related to complex problems, including research to address situations involving alternative investments and respond to internal business partners as appropriate.
