Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and optimize MIG welding equipment for marine-grade aluminum.
- Weld and fabricate aluminum components used in ship hulls, structural frames, bulkheads, decks, handrails, T-tops, and other marine structures.
- Read and interpret marine engineering drawings, blueprints, structural schematics, and welding symbols.
- Produce clean, structurally sound, and watertight welds capable of handling demanding marine environments.
- Clean and prepare marine-grade aluminum by removing oxides and contaminants to prevent weld porosity and defects.
- Perform visual inspections of completed welds.
- Prepare welds for non-destructive testing (NDT), including liquid penetrant examinations when required.
- Follow all shipyard safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and confined-space protocols.
- Work safely in confined spaces, at heights, and aboard vessels as required.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of professional welding experience, preferably with extensive marine or shipyard aluminum fabrication experience.
- Strong knowledge of marine-grade aluminum alloys.
- Must be able to pass a hands-on marine-grade aluminum weld test, which may include multi-position plate or 6G testing.
- Must be physically capable of working in confined spaces, at heights, aboard vessels, and in varying weather conditions.
- Must pass required drug screening and medical evaluation in accordance with client policy.
- AWS, ABS, or equivalent shipyard welding certification is a PLUS but not required.

Shifts:
- Monday to Friday 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Voluntary overtime available
