Job Overview

The Alumni Services Coordinator is a key member of the Alumni Affairs team at Georgetown Law, and is responsible for event and communications management for the Office of Alumni Affairs.

The event management and support responsibilities of the Coordinator include Alumni-Student programming, which includes event planning, working with the Office of Student Affairs, and serving as a liaison with student groups to promote the Alumni office and its efforts. Additionally, the Coordinator will provide support for various aspects of planning, implementation, and follow-up for other programming including Reunion Weekend, regional events and affinity programs.

Communications responsibilities include management of the general alumni email account, phone, website, and social media presences for the office. The coordinator will also be responsible for select alumni correspondence, including letters and acknowledgements to alumni volunteers. The Coordinator is the initial point of contact for alumni, and must be able to manage multiple relationships. This position will be the face of the office, and will greet and welcome all visitors to the O'Neill Alumni Welcome Center. Responsibilities include providing information about the Law Center and delivering tours to alumni of the campus.

The Coordinator will also support the Senior Director and the office in various administrative capacities including, but not limited to, assisting with financial affairs, office management, contract management, coordination and execution of various mailing and database projects. The Alumni Services Coordinator reports to the Senior Director of Alumni Affairs.

Work Interactions

This position reports to the Senior Director of Law Alumni Affairs. The alumni office is a five person office consisting of one director and three associate directors. This position provides support to all four of these individuals. This position oversees the work and administrative lives of the office's work-study students.

The Alumni Services Coordinator interacts with alumni from all over the world, and is the first point of contact for the office for both internal and external constituents. This includes all offices on the Law Center campus for planning & implementing programs. The position deals with outside vendors in the planning and executing of alumni events. This position will deal with offices on the main campus for contract issues, accounts payable, and various units within the central Office of Advancement for our shared engagement of University alumni. These interactions happen across all media and fora: including email, phone, social media, in-person (at events, on campus, off campus, at meetings, etc.)

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Must possess the ability to prioritize and work with multiple projects and constituencies including students, faculty, and staff.

  • High School degree

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, and 2-4 years of experience required (or equivalent combination of education and work experience)

  • Extremely well-organized and detail-oriented

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities successfully

  • Meet all deadlines consistently

  • Ability to assimilate data

  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion

  • Work independently

  • Accurate in materials preparation

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise a high degree of professionalism and acumen in dealing with various stakeholders

  • Ability to lift/carry boxes up to 20 pounds.

  • Requires excellent writing, speaking, clerical, and computer (MS Office Suite, database, and social media) skillls

  • Positive attitude, outstanding customer service skills, and attention to detail are all essential

  • Some weekend and evening work is required.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$20.16 - $31.30

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
