Amazon Airport Warehouse Associate

Job Overview

You"re on your way to joining Amazon Air-one of the most exciting and unique opportunities at Amazon. You"ll gain hands-on experience sorting packages, preparing them for aircraft and other warehouse destinations, and learning new Amazon technology, all while helping ensure customers receive their orders on time. Basic Job Requirements

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Understand and follow instructions in English
  • For this job, a valid driver's license is required; a commercial driver's license is not required.
  • In accordance with FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and DHS (Department of Homeland Security) requirements, applicants must successfully complete a criminal background check to obtain access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA) and must be able to secure the appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable.
  • This position may be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing if conducting safety sensitive functions as defined by the FAA. Federal law also requires Amazon to determine an applicant"s DOT drug and/or alcohol testing history prior to hiring him/her into a position that would require them to conduct safety sensitive functions as defined by the FAA.

What You'll Do

  • Use a valid driver's license to operate cargo trucks (commercial driver's license is not required)
  • Prepare packages to load and unload for the aircraft
  • Remove tie-downs and other gear when loading and unloading aircraft
  • Weigh, label, or make/break-down cardboard containers
  • Lift up to 49 pounds
  • Handle, move, and stack boxes
  • Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts
  • Use carts, dollies, hand trucks, powered industrial trucks (PIT) such as forklifts, and other gear to move items around
  • Go up and down stairs (where applicable)
  • Work at a height of up to 40 feet on a mezzanine (where applicable)
  • Work outdoors in different weather conditions

Schedule Options

  • Shift Options. Early Morning, Daytime, Evening, and Overnight hours.
  • Weekly Hours. Full-Time (40 hours), Reduced-Time (30-39 hours), or Part-Time (20-29 hours).
  • Schedule Flexibility. Choose from a variety of fixed weekly schedules to support your work-life balance.
  • Work-Life Balance. Select shifts offer different weekend options (including 2-day and 3-day weekends), with opportunities for overtime when needed.

Safety & Your Workspace

  • Safety. Your safety is our top priority. We provide protective gear and all teams share safety tips daily. Our state-of-the-art facilities are clean, well-organized, and designed with your safety in mind.
  • Equipment. You'll be operating and working around moving machines and other ground support equipment.
  • Physical Activity. Some activities may require standing in one place for long periods, walking around, or climbing stairs.

Work Conditions

  • Temperature. Climate controlled facilities maintain temperatures between 60°F and 90°F in most areas. Outside on hot days, temperatures can exceed 90°F and on cold days, temperatures can reach below freezing.
  • Noise level. It can get noisy at times. We provide hearing protection if you need it.
  • Dress code. Relaxed, with a few rules to follow for safety. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required and protective safety footwear are required in select business units. Depending on the role or location, Amazon provides a $110 Zappos gift code towards the purchase of shoes, in order to have you prepared for your first day on the job.

Additional compensation details

The starting pay for this position is listed below including the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential which applies depending on the shift you select. As a total compensation company, you are eligible for additional earnings including overtime pay and performance bonuses. Final pay will be based on factors including shift selection and location.
