Physical Requirements

This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job; working in confined spaces; and exposure to blood-borne or airborne pathogens, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, and cuts/punctures.

Shift

Day shift, 7:30 am - 5:00pm with some holiday requirements. Hours and days of the week are subject to change based on the needs and growth of the department. Holidays are not currently a requirement, but always subject to change. Requires some on-call shifts. Fully Remote Position.

Job Summary

This position will support ambulatory clinics in the management of patients requiring Specialty Pharmacy medications. Strong clinical oversight and patient education is mandatory for high functioning specialty pharmacies. The UK Specialty pharmacy will improve clinic workflow, increase patient satisfaction, and increase the volume of specialty medications dispensed through UK pharmacies. The creation of a UK HealthCare Specialty Pharmacy will allow subspecialty care to be managed entirely within UK HealthCare, avoiding the fractured care that currently exists by relying on external specialty pharmacies and manufacturer hubs. This position on the Primary Care Team will provide a high patient-touch service while obtaining affordable access to these medications, both cornerstones of a high functioning Specialty Pharmacy. Establish safe practices for infusion therapy handling, as well as collaborating and communicating with multidisciplinary team members involved in providing services to patients.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; a "team" mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience

PharmD and completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency program (or equivalent experience) preferred.
