    Position Summary

    Under the supervision of the Information Systems Applications Manager, the Ambulatory Clinical Analyst provides in-depth knowledge and support for assigned Epic clinical applications. The position serves as a key liaison between clinical users, Information Technology, Epic, and project teams to optimize clinical workflows and ensure technology effectively supports patient care and organizational needs.

    The Ambulatory Clinical Analyst analyzes clinical workflows, data, reports, and technical issues; designs and implements system solutions; supports upgrades and new functionality; and develops documentation and procedures. The position uses critical thinking and clinical knowledge to identify opportunities for workflow optimization, improve operational efficiency, and enhance patient care delivery.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support assigned Epic clinical applications, including EpicCare Ambulatory, Healthy Planet, Care Everywhere, EpicCare Link, Behavioral Health, Wisdom, Rover, and other applicable clinical applications.
    • Create and maintain Epic templates, order sets, provider favorites, and other clinical system configurations.
    • Analyze clinical workflows and understand the integration and impact of Epic applications on business processes and operations.
    • Design, build, test, implement, and maintain clinical application solutions.
    • Lead assigned Epic projects, including developing project timelines, documentation, status reports, and task assignments.
    • Perform workflow optimization, system configuration, change management, issue resolution, and new project development.
    • Serve as a clinical subject matter expert for technical questions and issues related to assigned applications.
    • Manage and test new releases and system upgrades to ensure functionality operates effectively.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve end-user application issues using Epic resources and documentation.
    • Create, review, and maintain test scripts that reflect proposed workflow solutions.
    • Escalate complex end-user issues to the appropriate level when necessary.
    • Collaborate with clinical and operational departments to ensure technology supports organizational strategies and business objectives.
    • Communicate system changes, updates, and best practices to stakeholders.
    • Support change management and communication plans across assigned departments.
    • Collaborate with IT and operational teams to optimize clinical workflows and configurations.
    • Participate in system upgrades, testing, and implementation of new clinical functionality.
    • Collaborate with trainers to provide ongoing education and support for effective use of Epic applications.
    • Document workflows, processes, procedures, and best practices for future reference and training.
    • Identify opportunities to improve quality of care, clinical service delivery, operational efficiency, and revenue generation.
    • Adhere to IT change-control, governance, and ticket-management processes.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a clinically related field.
    • An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN) or related clinical field may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree when combined with three (3) or more years of directly relevant experience.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a healthcare institution, preferably in an outpatient ambulatory setting, as an EHR user or application support professional.
    • Current license in a healthcare clinical profession, such as RN/LPN, Medical Assistant, Laboratory, or Radiology, is preferred.
    • Epic certification in job-related module(s), obtained within six (6) months of hire and maintained as required.
    • Proficiency with medical terminology and healthcare workflows.
    • Experience with clinical workflow optimization and process improvement using clinical technology is preferred.
    • Experience working in a healthcare environment, preferably a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or safety-net setting.
    • Experience with Electronic Health Records, including Epic or other ambulatory clinical applications.
    • Knowledge of applicable healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
    • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
    • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing end-user needs and priorities.
    • Positive, customer-focused approach when working with system users, vendors, and management.
    • Ability and willingness to learn new clinical practices, technologies, software, and systems.
