Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Administrator / Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Administrator / Manager to lead day-to-day operations, ensure full regulatory compliance, and drive operational and financial performance. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring direct ASC management experience and close collaboration with physicians, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary staff in a fast-paced surgical environment.
This is not an entry-level position. Candidates with hospital-only management experience and no ASC exposure will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Leadership
  • Oversee all daily ASC operations, including staffing, scheduling, patient flow, and case volume optimization
  • Lead, coach, and hold staff accountable; manage hiring, onboarding, training, evaluations, and corrective actions
  • Partner closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and ownership to support clinical excellence and business objectives
  • Ensure efficient room utilization, turnover times, and high patient satisfaction
  • Facilitate communication across clinical and administrative teams to promote a collaborative, high-performance culture
Compliance & Accreditation
  • Maintain full compliance with CMS, state regulations, HIPAA, OSHA, and accreditation standards (AAAHC, Joint Commission, AAAASF)
  • Lead all accreditation surveys, audits, and inspections; prepare documentation and corrective action plans
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and staff training remain current, compliant, and consistently enforced
Financial & Business Oversight
  • Manage budgets, expenses, and vendor contracts
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including case volume, staffing efficiency, supply costs, and revenue cycle performance
  • Collaborate with billing and revenue cycle teams to optimize reimbursement, collections, and payer processes
  • Control inventory and negotiate pricing with vendors and suppliers
  • Implement cost-control strategies while maintaining quality and patient care standards
Quality, Safety & Risk Management
  • Oversee quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and infection control standards
  • Manage incident reporting, risk mitigation, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to clinical best practices and regulatory standards
Systems & Documentation
  • Ensure accurate and compliant medical records management using ASC EMR/EHR and practice management systems
  • Support medical administrative functions including documentation workflows, billing coordination, and utilization management
Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
  • 3–5+ years of direct ASC Administrator or ASC Manager experience
  • Proven experience leading ASC accreditation and regulatory surveys
  • Strong understanding of ASC operations, staffing models, compliance, and case flow
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary clinical and administrative teams
  • Financial and operational expertise within a surgical or ambulatory setting
Preferred Qualifications
  • RN license (strongly preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Business, or related field
  • Multi-specialty ASC experience (orthopedics, spine, pain management, GI, etc.)
  • Experience opening, expanding, or scaling an ASC
  • Familiarity with ASC EMR and management systems (HST, SIS, Athena, Experity, Epic, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms)
