GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The AmeriCorps Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations and regulatory compliance of the AmeriCorps program. The Director guides AmeriCorps members and participants through the full lifecycle of service. This position drives continuous improvement, ensures compliance with AmeriCorps policies, oversees member recruitment and development, and tracks program outcomes to maximize community impact for monthly reporting. The Director ensures all activities align with organizational goals and federal regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitors full adherence to federal AmeriCorps, state commission, and organization policies.
• Tracks members’ eligibility, criminal history checks, service logs, and enrollment date.
• Submits accurate financial reports, progress reports, and performance measures on schedule.
• Maintains complete, audit-ready physical and digital records for all grant activities.
• Monitors program expenditures to ensure exact alignment with the approved grant budget.
• Oversees the training, performance, and overall experience of AmeriCorps members and participants.
• Cultivates an inclusive, professional team culture focused on civic engagement and equity.
• Manages and implements grievance procedures, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
• Leads marketing, interviewing, and placement strategies for members and participants.
• Implements retention strategies to ensure members and participants complete their full term of service.
• Conducts site visits to evaluate members’ and participants’ performance and workspace safety.
• Secures and maintains strong agreements with host sites and community partners.
• Collects data to evaluate the program’s community success.
• Represents the AmeriCorps program at community events, networking panels, and Cherokee Nation public meetings or community events.
• Provides regular updates on project outcomes regularly to senior leadership and works in partnership to resolve any unforeseen circumstances proactively regarding project hurdles before the end of the day.
• Performs other duties, tasks, and services consistent with this position as assigned.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
• This position directly supervises AmeriCorps Program Coordinators.
• Assignments received with set guidelines, organizes own work, and sets own processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in management, related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree.
• Two (2) years of experience in a related field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this
job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
