    Overview

    At the Digital Harbor Foundation, the AmeriCorps Planning Manager plays a crucial role in the success of a Career Navigators program by overseeing all aspects of program development, implementation, and ongoing improvement.

    Education and Experience Requirements

    • If you have a Bachelor’s degree in a related or relevant field, you are encouraged to apply.
    • At least 5 years of Project Management experience; PMP certification encouraged to apply.
    • Experience in nonprofit organizations is a plus.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Ability to confidently host, facilitate, and present to large groups; strong public speaking skills are preferred.
    • Knowledge of the setup and operation of projectors, screens, microphones, and other audiovisual (AV) equipment is a plus.
    • High level of interpersonal and ethical skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
    • Superb verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail in composing and editing materials.
    • Ability to work independently, including managing multiple projects and deadlines and proactively identifying and completing tasks.
    • Ability to collaborate on informal and formal team-based projects.
    • Comfort using HR databases and systems.
    • Proficient with Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides).

    Additional Notes

    Hybrid. This position is primarily remote with occasional in-office meetings in the Baltimore, MD office.

    Role and Responsibilities

    Planning Process

    • Needs Assessment
      • Assess the target population's workforce readiness, digital literacy, tech access, skills gaps, employment barriers, and career interests.
      • Evaluate existing workforce programs, resources, infrastructure, credentials, and supportive services available.
      • Engage partners, employers, and prospective participants to identify local workforce needs and high-demand career pathways.
      • Use findings to shape program design, recruitment, training, employer partnerships, and measurable outcomes.
    • Goal Setting
      • Define clear objectives for the Career Navigators workforce development program, including career readiness, digital skills, occupational training, credential attainment, and pathways to sustainable employment and career advancement.
      • Establish measurable outcomes and KPIs for enrollment, skill development, training completion, credentials, employment placement and retention, aligned with participant needs, employer demand, and identified career pathways.
    • Stakeholder Engagement
      • Collaborate with community partners, local organizations, and government agencies.
      • Build relationships with potential funders and sponsors.
    • Budgeting and Resource Allocation
      • Develop a budget for the program, including staffing, materials, and technology.
      • Allocate resources effectively to meet program goals.
    • Curriculum Design
      • Create a structured curriculum that covers career readiness, essential digital skills, occupational training, professional development and topics.
      • Adapt content to address the specific needs, identify skill gaps and targeted career pathways of the target audience.
     

    Program Implementation

    • Recruitment and Training
      • Recruit and train Career Navigators or instructors.
      • Ensure they have the necessary expertise in digital literacy and teaching.
    • Outreach and Enrollment
      • Develop marketing and outreach strategies to attract program participants.
      • Handle enrollment and registration processes.
    • Class Scheduling
      • Create and coordinate schedules for workforce development training, career readiness sessions, digital skills classes, workshops, and employer-focused activities.
      • Ensure scheduling is flexible and accessible to accommodate participant availability, training requirements, instructors, employers, and community partners.
    • Monitoring and Evaluation
      • Implement data collection and assessment mechanisms to track progress.
      • Regularly review program performance against KPIs.
    • Adaptation and Improvement
      • Use evaluation results to make adjustments and improvements to the program.
      • Stay current with digital trends, employer needs, industry demands, and emerging career pathways and update curriculum and training as needed.
     

    Program Support and Administration

    • Staff Management
      • Supervise and support Career Navigators and other internal and external program staff.
      • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback.
    • Reporting and Documentation
      • Prepare regular reports for stakeholders, funders, and partners.
      • Maintain accurate records of program activities and outcomes.
    • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving
      • Address issues or challenges that arise during program planning and ultimately implementation.
      • Develop solutions to ensure the program's success.
    • Quality Assurance
      • Ensure the program maintains high-quality standards in curriculum and teaching.
      • Seek participant feedback and make necessary adjustments.
    • Sustainability and Growth
      • Explore opportunities for program expansion or replication in other communities.
      • Secure long-term funding and support for program sustainability.
