About the Role
We are seeking an Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to join our team at our Cayce, SC bakery. As an Ammonia Refrigeration Technician, you will be accountable for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of ammonia refrigeration systems and plant utilities that are critical to continuous production.
Shift & Schedule
Shift: 1st Weekend availability: Required
Core Accountabilities (What You'll be Doing)
Operate and monitor ammonia refrigeration systems to ensure safe and efficient performance
Maintain optimal system conditions by adjusting controls and responding to alarms and irregularities
Perform system start-ups, shutdowns, and operational changes during production runs
Inspect equipment and document critical operating data to support system reliability and compliance
Support maintenance and repair of refrigeration and related mechanical components
Provide operational support for plant utilities including boilers, air compressors, and HVAC systems
Maintain accurate maintenance records and support safety audits, inspections, and compliance programs
Minimum Qualifications (What You Bring to the Table)
High school diploma or GED with trade training or equivalent maintenance experience
Hands-on experience with ammonia (NH) refrigeration systems and industrial equipment
Strong understanding of refrigeration principles, thermodynamics, and mechanical/electrical systems
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, and technical documentation
Proficiency with computer systems including Microsoft Office and CMMS platforms
Demonstrated knowledge of safety practices including LOTO, GMP, and food safety standards
Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in cold environments, and perform work at heights
Preferred Qualifications (Extra Ingredients for Success)
RETA certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
Certification or degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance
Experience supporting plant utilities and facility systems
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in industrial environments
Ability to work independently and effectively manage emergency or unplanned work
