About us:
Burlington is home to many parks across Alamance and Guildford County. Nestled between major cities, Burlington Recreation and Parks offers many different facilities and something for everyone.
What you will be doing:
This position is responsible for assisting the Parks Manger with management and operational duties for the City Park Amusement Area, the concession stand and other duties as assigned by the Parks Manager.
Examples of Duties
Staff Management and Training:
- Recruitment and Training Support: Assists with interviewing and onboarding new staff, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles and responsibilities.
- Staff Development: Collaborates with the Parks Manager in training and managing staff, fostering a productive and well-equipped team.
Park and Concessions Operations:
- City Park Amusement Area Management: Oversees the operation of the City Park Amusement area, ensuring a smooth, safe, and enjoyable experience for visitors during operational hours.
- Vendor Liaison: Acts as a liaison for vendors at City Park facilitating communication and ensuring vendor operations align with park policies and standards.
- Concessions Operations: Manages day-to-day operations of City Park Concessions (when vendors are not in use), including staffing, inventory, and customer service
- Inventory and Purchasing: Responsible for assisting with the purchasing, delivering, and maintaining inventory of concession items at City Park
Financial and Administrative Support:
- Deposits and Timesheet Management: Makes deposits for City Park ensuring financial accuracy and timely processing. Acts as proxy for the Parks Manager in approving timesheets when needed
- Administrative Support: Assists in administrative tasks such as maintaining accurate records, scheduling, and other duties to support the smooth functioning of the parks and concessions areas.
Special Events and Facility Maintenance:
- Special Events Support: Provides assistance with organizing and executing special events at City Park, ensuring that event logistics run smoothly.
- Carousel Event Room and Gazebo Setup and Cleanup: Takes responsibility for assisting with the setup/cleanup of Carousel rental space and gazebo before and after use, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for park patrons.
- Basic Maintenance: Performs routine maintenance on equipment and park facilities, reporting more significant issues to the Parks Manager for further action.
Customer Service and Additional Duties:
- Customer Service Excellence: Ensures that all visitors receive excellent service and assistance, addressing concerns and maintaining a positive atmosphere.
- Additional Responsibilities: Takes on various duties as assigned by the Parks Concessions Supervisor to support overall park operations and staff efficiency.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Work in this class is described as medium using a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects and may occasionally require some physical exertion to complete tasks.
- Work typically involves the ability to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
- Work necessitates visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned in preparing and analyzing figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal viewing and extensive reading.
- Working conditions include both inside and outside environmental conditions.
- Work schedule to include days, nights, weekend, holidays and mandatory summer work
