Job requirements:
- MBChB or equivalent medical degree
- Specialisation in Anaesthesiology / Anaesthesia
- Registered with the relevant medical council (e.g. HPCSA or equivalent)
- Valid practising licence
- Minimum X years’ experience as an Anaesthesiologist (preferred)
- Current ACLS, BLS (and PALS where applicable) certification
- Willingness to work flexible hours, on-call and emergency shifts
- Medical indemnity cover
Job duties:
- Perform pre-operative patient assessments and risk evaluations
- Administer general, regional and local anaesthesia safely
- Monitor patients’ vital signs during surgical procedures
- Manage pain control before, during and after surgery
- Ensure patient safety and respond to anaesthetic emergencies
- Oversee post-anaesthesia recovery and patient stabilisation
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses and theatre staff
- Maintain accurate patient records and anaesthetic charts
- Adhere to hospital protocols, safety standards and ethical guidelines
- Participate in continuous professional development
