Position Summary

The Research Analyst 2 supports the Office of Strategy, Analytics and Research by conducting applied research, managing research projects, and analyzing institutional data to support planning, assessment, accreditation, and decision-making across the College. The position collaborates with departments college-wide to collect, extract, analyze, and report data related to enrollment, student success, institutional performance, and other key metrics. Responsibilities include conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, developing interactive dashboards and data visualizations, preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders, and presenting findings in a clear and actionable manner. The Research Analyst 2 evaluates and applies appropriate research methodologies, reporting tools, and visualization techniques to meet stakeholder needs while ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with applicable policies and reporting requirements.

The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages institutional research projects within designated timelines and specifications.
  • Extracts, cleans and transforms data from warehouse and enterprise systems using languages/tools

such as SQL, Toad, MS Access, R, or Python

  • Conducts descriptive and inferential statistical analyses and prepare reports to support institutional

planning, and decision making

  • Designs and executes applied research projects to support institutional effectiveness and strategic

goals. Supports the development and interpretation of research findings in response to institutional

inquiries.

  • Develops ad hoc queries and processes to fulfill data requests from internal stakeholders. Responds

to internal and external inquiries related to enrollment, graduation rates, and other institutional

metrics.

  • Design and develop efficient, rapid response data pull processes to meet the immediate data needs

of various units of the College. Prepares federal and state-mandated reports in accordance with

reporting requirements.

  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, College policies, and research protocols in all research

activities. Maintains adherence to established research policies, procedures, and best practices

  • Verifies the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data used in analyses and reports, working closely

with institutional analytics colleagues, IT, academic departments, and administrative offices to

maintain data quality and alignment across systems.

  • Creates, maintains, and delivers comprehensive reports, interactive dashboards, automated reports,

and data visualizations using business intelligence and reporting tools, tailoring information to diverse

audiences including College leadership, administrators, committees, and external agencies.

  • Synthesizes and presents complex data, research findings, and institutional metrics to diverse

audiences, using strong written, verbal, and presentation skills to support understanding and informed

decision-making.

  • Develops and maintains predictive or trend analyses related to enrollment, retention, student

success, and resource allocation

  • Conducts and administers college-wide and external surveys, and assist with the course evaluation

process

  • Represents the College in external meetings and collaborates with institutional research professionals

at other institutions on shared initiatives.

  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, data science, computer science, or a related field and
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of direct work experience with research and statistical methodology using applicable computer programs

Preferred:

  • Five years plus (5+) years of direct work experience with research and statistical methodology using

applicable computer programs preferred.

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer science in or a closely related field of study

preferred.

  • Institutional research, data analytics, or administrative experience in higher education settings preferred.

Or

  • An equivalent combination of certification, education and experience sufficient to successfully perform

the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Professional experience designing and conducting advanced statistical research studies beyond

academic coursework, internships, graduate assistantships, or practicum experiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with data management, statistical analysis, and data extraction tools,

including SQL, R, Python, or similar technologies.

  • Experience developing interactive dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI or comparable

business intelligence and reporting platforms.

  • Knowledge of data administration principles and practices
  • Knowledge of data storage concepts including managing and maintaining agency records
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance principles and practices
  • Knowledge of internal and external customer service principles and practices
  • Skill in analyzing data and drawing conclusions
  • Skill in current and applicable computer programming languages relative to the assignment
  • Skill in effective communication (both written and oral)
  • Skill in verbal and written communication with the ability to explain technical concepts to audiences with a

wide range of technical skills
