Are you a Human Resources (HR) professional who would like to help build a workforce that supports our hospital and the community we serve? DSH-Metropolitan is seeking a highly motivated self-starter who maintains a professional appearance and possesses excellent customer service, analytical and communication skills to work in a fast-paced environment with ever-changing priorities.

Under the direction of the Supervisor I or designee in the Examination and Selection Services Unit (SSU) of the HR Department, this position serves as a key resource to hospital management, hiring managers and candidates, providing expert guidance on the State Hiring Process. The Analyst I/II duties include but are not limited to: interpret and apply State Personnel Board (SPB) laws, California Code of Regulations (CCR), California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) guidelines and departmental policies and procedures; utilize recruitment and examination systems and tools such as Exam and Cert Online System (ECOS) to post and maintain vacancies, track candidates and review and analyze job applications, resumes, and Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) to determine eligibility and compliance with established Minimum Qualifications; assist with composing job advertisements, Duty Statement revisions and interview questions; maintain accurate and complete recruitment and selection records and historical files with utmost confidentiality; create and maintain rapports with all levels of staff, state agencies and outside entities; presenting material/providing training to the public and other duties as assigned.

Good attendance, punctuality and the ability to work well in a small team and with others is a critical component to the success of our unit. All SSU staff are expected to do some travel and occasional work on weekends to assist with HR functions, proctor exams, attend career fairs and informational sessions or trainings.

Desirable Qualifications: In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Interested candidates who have knowledge of hiring/recruiting, modern office methods, equipment and common computer applications, California State Personnel Board and Civil Service laws, rules and regulations and Human Resources experience are highly desired.

Opened in 1916, DSH-Metropolitan State Hospital is in the vibrant community of Norwalk,15 miles east of Los Angeles. To the south are entertainment venues like Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, the marinas and beaches of Huntington, Newport and Laguna. To the west are Palos Verdes and Marina Del Rey.

DSH-Metropolitan State Hospital has an open campus within a security perimeter. The hospital operates approximately 826 beds. The commitment categories of patients treated at DSH-Metropolitan: Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) Act, Incompetent to Stand Trial (PC 1370), Offenders with Mental Health Disorders (Penal Code Section 2964/2972/2974), Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (PC 1026).
