POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Oceanview Life and Annuity Company is seeking a Reinsurance Analyst to support the administration, reporting, settlements, and accounting associated with Oceanview's reinsurance arrangements.

 

The Reinsurance Analyst will work closely with Oceanview's Accounting and Finance teams, our Bermuda-based team, and other internal partners to help coordinate the information and activities required to support our reinsurance agreements. The role will also interact with external reinsurance counterparties and help ensure reporting, settlements, reconciliations, and other contractual requirements are completed accurately and on time.

 

This position provides an opportunity to develop broad exposure to reinsurance and the operations of a growing insurance company. The Analyst will work across Accounting, Finance, Actuarial, Investments, and other functions while developing an understanding of reinsurance agreements, financial reporting, settlements, and related controls.

 

Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, organization, communication, analytical ability, and follow-through. Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

WHAT YOU'LL DO

 

Reinsurance Administration & Coordination

• Serve as a day-to-day contact for routine requests from reinsurance counterparties and coordinate responses to questions and information requests.
• Maintain an inventory of active reinsurance agreements, key contractual terms, reporting requirements, settlement obligations, and other recurring deliverables.
• Maintain organized treaty documentation, amendments, correspondence, and supporting records.
• Track outstanding requests, deadlines, and deliverables and follow up with internal teams and reinsurance counterparties as appropriate.
• Work with internal subject-matter experts to help resolve questions related to reinsurance agreements, reporting, and settlements.
• Assist with the onboarding and administration of new reinsurance arrangements.

 

Reporting & Settlements

• Coordinate the preparation and delivery of periodic reinsurance reporting packages, working closely with Oceanview's Bermuda-based team and other internal stakeholders.
• Collect and organize information from Accounting, Finance, Actuarial, Investments, and other teams required to support reinsurance reporting.
• Assist with the preparation and reconciliation of reinsurance settlements.
• Investigate differences and outstanding items and coordinate with internal teams and reinsurance counterparties to support timely resolution.
• Monitor recurring reporting and settlement requirements to help ensure contractual deadlines are met.
• Maintain appropriate supporting documentation for reporting and settlement activities.

 

Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Assist with reconciliations of ceded premiums, benefits, reserves, funds withheld, and other reinsurance-related balances.
• Support Accounting team members during monthly and quarterly close processes.
• Assist with reinsurance-related statutory and GAAP reporting.
• Prepare supporting schedules, analyses, and documentation for management, auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Research and assist with resolving differences identified through reconciliations, reporting, or settlement processes.

 

Controls & Process Improvement

• Maintain reinsurance calendars, checklists, process documentation, and other tools used to support timely and accurate execution of recurring activities.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of controls around reinsurance reporting, settlements, and administration.
• Identify opportunities to streamline, improve, or automate recurring processes.
• Support testing and implementation of process and system enhancements related to reinsurance activities.
• Assist with ad hoc projects involving new treaties, additional reinsurance transactions, system implementations, and other business initiatives.

Qualifications:

Required

 

• Bachelor's degree with demonstrated comfort working with numerical and financial concepts. Degrees in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or related fields are preferred; other majors will be considered based on demonstrated quantitative abilities.
• 0–2 years of relevant professional experience. Recent graduates with relevant coursework, internships, or other applicable experience are encouraged to apply.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate work involving financial information, reporting, reconciliations, and documentation.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments, recurring deadlines, and outstanding items.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different functions and locations.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities with a willingness to investigate differences and follow issues through resolution.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including demonstrated comfort working in Microsoft Excel.
• Self-motivated, curious, and willing to learn in a growing and evolving organization.

 

Preferred

 

• Previous internship or professional experience in insurance, reinsurance, accounting, finance, financial services, or a related field.
• Coursework or experience involving accounting, financial analysis, reconciliations, or financial reporting.
• Familiarity with insurance or reinsurance concepts.
• Experience working with financial data and large or complex Excel workbooks.
• Interest in developing a career within the insurance or reinsurance industry.

LOCATION & WORK ARRANGEMENT

• This position is based in Denver, CO.
• This role follows a hybrid work schedule requiring three days per week in the office.
• Additional in-office attendance may be required based on business needs.

 

COMPENSATION

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $60,000–$65,000*, with eligibility for annual incentive compensation.
