Qualifications:
College hours preferred
High school diploma or GED
Ability to maintain accurate, auditable records
Proficient keyboarding, word processing, and file maintenance skills
Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of student management systems and PEIMS (Public Education Information Management System) Knowledge of ESL and bilingual student data requirements preferred
Ability to prepare, conduct meetings, and successfully interact with staff
Ability to meet established deadlines
Bilingual abilities are a plus, but not required
Primary Purpose:
To assist the Director of ESL and Bilingual programs with all matters related to the gathering, inputting, and verification of PEIMS data related to English Language Learners for district and state reports.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Offer PEIMS support to all campuses.
- Provide campus and central office administrators with reports to analyze ELL student data.
- Prepare required ELL documentation for Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) meetings conducted at the ELL Testing Center.
- Support the daily operations of the ELL District Testing Center, including interviewing students/families, administering ELL language proficiency assessments, contacting prior Texas districts for records, and communicating with parents.
- Input PEIMS data relating to ELLs into district student management system.
- Monitor and audit ELL student reports for compliance purposes.
- Research and provide input as to the history and prior program placement of students.
- Assist with training on PEIMS and the district student management system for ELL student data.
- Gather information from all campuses for district PEIMS office as requested.
- Comply with federal, state and local policies and guidelines relating to ELLs.
- Assist with auditing ELL folders at campuses.
- Assist departmental administrators with the revision process of ELL forms.
- Run weekly ELL error reports and research/correct data.
- Assist the Coordinator for ESL and Bilingual Programs to develop methods to compile and extract ELL and immigrant student data to support PEIMS collection, verification and reporting.
