Analytical Chemistry Laboratory Assistant – St Charles, IL

Clarke is seeking independent, safety-focused and environmentally conscious individuals to step into an Analytical Chemistry Laboratory Assistant position at our St. Charles, IL location. This position is ideal for the self-motivated and detail-oriented seeking the reward of a challenging new role.

Lab Assistants are responsible for supporting our Research Development & Engineering team with laboratory research projects. This includes the testing of mosquito formulations for various physical and chemical product properties.

This opportunity is a temporary position that will last up to 10 months (or about 1,500 total hours of work)

WORK SCHEDULE AND SALARY

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM

Rate: $18.00/hour

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform analytical testing in support of R&D projects and objectives
  • Assist in development and validation of new analytical methods
  • Participate in data collection of GLP Studies. GLP Training will be provided
  • Participate in small group meetings to foster critical thinking and sharing of new ideas
  • Become proficient in various analytical methods, including the following techniques:
  • Determination of Active Ingredient Content by HPLC
  • Sample Extraction and Clean-Up
  • Solution Preparation and Serial Dilution
  • Determination of Specific Gravity by Pycnometer
  • Determination of pH
  • Perform daily calibration checks on analytical equipment (balances, meters... etc.)
  • Document and communicate daily work accurately
  • Ensure safe work practices and procedures are followed at all times

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology, with experience in Analytical Chemistry
  • Recent graduate from an accredited University or College preferred
  • Candidate must be comfortable performing assigned duties in the field where environmental conditions are affected by weather
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Have a valid Driver's License with an excellent driving record
  • Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms
