The role also contributes to governance, platform support, and user enablement.
Key Responsibilities:
Analytics & Data Development
- Design, build, and maintain analytics solutions from data exploration and transformation through modeling and report delivery.
- Write and optimize SQL to query, join, transform, and validate data in Snowflake and other relational data sources.
- Use Python for data processing, validation, automation, and other analytics development tasks.
- Investigate source data to understand its grain, relationships, completeness, and business meaning; identify and resolve issues that affect analytical accuracy.
- Develop reusable business logic and metric definitions in the appropriate data or semantic layer.
- Test calculations, transformations, and outputs against source systems and agreed business requirements.
- Diagnose and resolve performance issues across queries, data models, and reports.
Data Modeling & Semantic Layer
- Design analytical data models using appropriate dimensional modeling patterns, relationships, and clearly defined measures.
- Develop and maintain curated Snowflake tables, views, and semantic views in collaboration with data engineering.
- Build Power BI semantic models using DAX and Power Query, with attention to accuracy, performance, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with data engineers to determine where transformations and business logic should reside across the data platform and reporting environment.
- Document data definitions, model relationships, transformation logic, and dependencies so solutions can be understood and supported by others.
Reporting & Analytics Delivery
- Develop reports and dashboards that answer business questions and support operational and financial decisions.
- Write and maintain metrics, including time intelligence and calculations appropriate to the underlying data model.
- Build data transformations where needed for data preparation and integration.
- Design reports with clear visual presentation, consistent metrics, and effective navigation.
