Our client, a leading healthcare provider specializing in comprehensive laboratory and pathology services, is hiring a talented Anatomic Pathology Operations Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of their pathology departments. This pivotal role involves managing the daily operations of the histology, cytology, and MOHS laboratories across multiple locations, ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance, and efficiency. The successful candidate will coordinate staff supervision, workflow management, regulatory inspection readiness, and process improvements to support the growth of services and operational excellence. You will also collaborate closely with pathologists, medical directors, clinical partners, and other key stakeholders to achieve departmental goals and enhance service delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire pathology operations including histology, cytology, and MOHS labs, managing supervisors and office staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards (CAP, DPH, JC) and maintain inspection readiness.
  • Manage workflow, project completion, and timely testing to optimize turnaround times.
  • Lead quality assurance programs, prepare reports, and support accreditation processes.
  • Develop operational plans, budgets, and strategic initiatives to support growth.
  • Supervise hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing competency for approximately 40 employees.
  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and compliant workplace environment.
  • Collaborate with vendors and maintain effective communication with clinical and laboratory teams.
  • Participate actively in hospital management meetings and performance improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Current NYS License as Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Cytotechnologist, Histotechnologist, or Pathologists’ Assistant.
  • Minimum of six years relevant hospital laboratory experience with managerial responsibilities.
  • Proven management skills with the ability to oversee multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Strong understanding of clinical laboratory operations, regulatory standards, and accreditation processes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple departments and handle complex workflows.
