Role Overview

Responsible for moving the OEM's customized Android platform from Android 14 to Android 16, including framework integration, carrier customization and retail demonstration mode.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze Android 14 16 API and behavior changes and create feature-gap analysis.
• Merge Android 15 and 16 AOSP changes into the proprietary repository.
• Resolve conflicts in frameworks/base and core system services.
• Port custom features, notifications and security frameworks to Android 16.
• Implement carrier configuration including MCC/MNC whitelisting and IMSI support.
• Port and harden retail demonstration/kiosk profiles.
• Debug framework crashes, ANRs and memory leaks.
• Resolve framework and carrier-configuration issues during certification and rollout.

Mandatory Skills

• Experience shipping at least one major Android version upgrade on a production device, with clear ownership of the merge.
• Strong AOSP, Binder IPC, AIDL/HIDL, JNI, Zygote and Android system services knowledge.
• Strong Java and C++.
• Working knowledge of Kotlin.
• Android build systems: Soong, Blueprint, Make.
• Repo and Gerrit workflows.
• Carrier configuration experience: CarrierConfig, APN, SIM-lock or whitelisting logic.

Preferred Skills

• Kiosk, enterprise or retail-demo device experience.
• Device Owner / lock-task mode.
• CTS / VTS / GTS failure analysis.
• Qualcomm-based device experience with vendor-framework interfaces.

Senior requirement: At least one engineer should have led an Android framework merge.
