Anesthesia Performance Technician Casual

Responsible for a variety of clinical and non-clinical procedures related primarily to Cardiac Services following hospital and departmental policies and procedures, guidelines, standards of care, and standards of practice.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Performs set-up of perfusion equipment and supplies and assists the perfusionist during cardiovascular surgeries. Major responsibilities include the following:
• Cardiopulmonary Bypass and Support Procedures
• Autotransfusion
• Physiological Monitoring/Analysis
• Stat Laboratory
• Emergency Preparedness
• Performs set-up of anesthesia equipment and supplies and assists anesthesia and nursing staff.
• Completes records, procedure/charge sheets, stat lab results and other documentation related to perfusion and anesthesia.
• Participates in the cleaning and maintenance of perfusion and anesthesia equipment.
• Maintains appropriate stocking levels of supplies and participates in the evaluation of new equipment and products.
• Seeks to improve quality of service by continuously developing individual and unit competencies within scope of practice.
• Performs other related responsibilities as necessary.

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent.

American Society of Anesthesia Technologists/ Technicians (ASATT) certification or licensed Paramedic.

American Heart Association BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent through Military Training Network (MTN).

Preferred:

Experience in high acuity care.

College level anatomy and physiology class.

Associate Degree with a major in an allied medical field.
